The weekend of February 1 and 2 sees the return of XDubai’s highly anticipated yoga festival. Held on Kite Beach, XYoga will feature sunrise to sunset classes, flows, and workshops led by some of the city’s most renowned teachers, as well as international names the likes of Laura Sykora and Davidji.
For the first time ever, this third edition of XYoga will also feature a Goodness corner, where yogis will be invited to hang out, get their hair braided, or even customize a yoga mat.
Read on for what we’re most looking forward to at the region’s largest yoga festival.
More styles of yoga than we ever thought possible
Hula Hoop yoga (yes, it’s a thing apparently), partner yoga, Animal Flow, art-therapy yoga, and acroyoga are just a few examples.
For your purists, more traditional forms of yoga will still feature heavily in the schedule.
But also so much more than yoga
This year’s schedule of 55 complimentary classes and workshops will also include other movement practices, such as Tai Chi and Bollywood dancing, as well as meditation. One talk we’re particularly looking forward to will cover the breathing practice of Pranayama and be led by Goodness collaborator Laura Farrier at 4 p.m. on February 2nd.
You can view the full schedule here.
A Ripe Market pop-up
Dubai’s favorite homegrown crafts and food market, The Ripe Market, will be operating as part of XYoga. There, you’ll be able to buy some yoga gear, grab a healthy snack, and shop artisanal products by local entrepreneurs.
An incredible roster of teachers and yogis
Divided between the main stage, which will be able to accommodate 400 yogis, and two secondary stages, which will hold up to 150 people each, is a lineup of yoga teachers from Dubai and around the world. These include Laura Sykora, Janet Stone, Deepika Mehta, and Davidji.
Practicing with 2,000 people during the opening class
An opening session for 2,000 yogis will launch the festival at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. It will be led by Deepika Mehta and Bollywood actress, wellness advocate, and philanthropist Nargis Fakhri.
